Elizabeth Park is located in Hartford, CT near the W.Hartford border. It has over 15,000 plants and 800 varieties of roses. The Rose Garden is one of 22 public All American Test Gardens in the country. A nice place to visit before or after the month of June when the roses are out. It is a horticultural park donated to the City of Hartford by Mr. Pond who named the park after his wife, Elizabeth. There are 102 acres in the park. There are paths to stroll on and you can also have lunch at the Pond Restraurant. There is a pond with canadian geese and an arched bridge for people to stand on to have their photograph taken as a souvenir. Besides the Rose Garden you can also visit the Annual Garden, Herb Garden, Perennial Garden, the Rock Garden, plus the Historical Rose Garden. Tennis courts and a baseball diamond is also located at the park.
Here are a few photos of my mother, Elizabeth, at the park and my relatives. Please visit the link above to see more historical photos. Enjoy your day there! |
